Research Leader
Yong’s
research focuses on soil erosion and environment changes, relationship between
soil quality and soil erosion, and mechanism of plant roots on resistance of
soil to concentrated flow erosion. His research is now aimed at understanding
the source and transport of non-point pollution, soil organic carbon
sequestration in agro-watershed. He has been involved in quantifying
spatial-temporal variation in soil redistribution due
to water, wind and tillage erosion and its impacts on soil physical and chemical
properties by using
7Be,
137Cs, and 210Pb.
Use
of fallout
radionuclides, soil quality-soil erosion relationship, soil organic carbon
cycle and soil resource redistribution, tracing and monitoring of agricultural
pollutants, environmental impacts of
plant roots and land use.
